Lesson 1 – Whip into Shape
In this lesson we will go over some basics about drawing stylized faces, flowers and continuous patterns. You'll learn how to transform ordinary lines and simple shapes into key elements of your art through the use of interesting composition, layering and--of course--mixing medias!

Lesson 2 – Paint Play
We'll start this lesson with learning a bit about how colors work together and how to achieve bold, lively strokes without muddling colors and creating confusion. We'll experiment with watercolor and acrylic paint as a base for artwork. Then a quick, exciting activity full of bursts of mark making will transform our canvas into an extraordinary artwork.

Lesson 3 – Bold Blooms
Today is all about making mixed media flowers. We'll mix oil pastel (or crayon!), watercolor, pencil, and acrylic to make a bouquet full of visual and tactile texture, wild patterns, bold lines and exciting details. You'll

Lesson 4 – Modern Faces
Now it's time to learn to create and utilize a modern, simplified face in our work. We'll start with bold backgrounds and work our way to the focal point of the piece. We'll do some exercises to create beautiful, interesting faces and then apply them via collage to our work. We'll dive right in and explore the possibilities with color and line and how they can make artwork pop!

Lesson 5 – Tape Frenzy
Once again we are on the lookout for interesting, new ways to explore media mixing. We'll start by learning how to make washi tape a unique piece of your artwork. We'll rip, cut and apply the tape to our substrate and then venture into layering different medias on top of our tapes. To tie it all together, we will freely create a collage element to affix to the top.  Remember, this is all about enjoying the process and the big idea is to push you towards new art techniques and making possibilities.

Lesson 6 – The Grand Work
Now it’s time to take all the starts and explorations and create a large, displayable work to showcase your growth!  You will look at everything you have created thus far, pick what you love and work your way to a final piece. Use bold pops of contrast and hone in on your favorite medias. From this last lesson, you'll hopefully discover your own style that sticks with you for years to come which keeps your creative mind thinking and growing.
